I'm Ross Wells, film director. I specialize in visual fx and documentary style spots, music video and viral media. I have an easy rapport with both clients and talent and I run a fun and relaxed set. My 'mojo' manifests through my unique (read: 'twisted') sense of humor, which I have pledged to use for the good of mankind, and most especially, my projects.
I began my career as a post house editor and effects compositor which gives me great comfort when working with complex opticals both on the set and in post. I enjoy being able to work on the preparation, acquisition and post stages of a project. When handing a project over to another editor for post production, I excel in providing notes in exceptional detail.
I co-own Zenfilm with my longtime executive producer and partner Merideth Melville. The two of us began working together on documentary films in the late 80's and simply never stopped doing what worked so well. Zenfilm is a diverse collection of motion picture artists and pop culture junkies who are wholly devoted to creating beautiful, exceptional work. The company is a certified women's business enterprise and subscribes to green business practices.
Zenfilm's credentials include national and regional spots, music videos and viral media. We have a music video currently airing on MTV2 and Canada's Much Music Network. We have a multi-cultural, multi-lingual staff, and have produced many spots in both English and Español. We have worked and played well with others on locations all over the world--from Houston, TX to the jungles of Borneo-- and have made lots of friends and been invited back every time.
And not to leave out the all important techno-geekery: Zenfilm's in-house post capabilities include 4:4:4 HD editorial, compositing and motion design.
