Seeking skilled web designer to design, build and maintain a new company web site. During this new initiative, support will be needed to maintain existing website. Ideal candidate will also support, design and build necessary elements for other branded social media and online applications. Experience with editing video for online distribution a plus.

Responsibilities

·         Work effectively as part of online media team to develop a comprehensive, attractive, sticky online presence for the Museum and all its web properties as well as online initiatives

·         Creation of new web site; updates and modifications as necessary; assist in creative direction/structure; maintain technical and aesthetic standards

·         Creation of code to modify look of new and existing HMNS communities online for consistent branding

·         Implementation of proven technologies into practical solutions including user-friendly design, and online marketing & communication tools.

·         Experience with web development and design, knowledge of best practices; demonstrable, solid site design principles; experience with implementation and quality assurance; excellence in design founded on solid Internet usability standards and best practices

·         Experience with existing and emerging technologies: Adobe/Macromedia/Microsoft Products, AJAX, HTML Coding, XHTML Coding, CSS, Flash (2 years experience), JavaScript, XML and Web 2.0 content and coding standards; experience with multiple content management systems a plus. Knowledge of PHP/ASP a plus

·         Creativity, creative execution and design skills; proven ability to take design from vision to effective implementation online

·         Possess thorough knowledge of Web concepts, architecture, technology and innovations

·         Experience with social media tools and applications; familiarity with principles of marketing and public relations

·         Self motivated; project management, ability to meet deadlines; ability to communicate with and educate non-technical personnel

·         Effective communication and interpersonal skills

·         Passion for technology; ability to stay abreast of Web development trends, and recommend evolutionary changes

·         Experience with editing video for online distribution a plus.
