Internationally Acclaimed Actor/Director Robert Castle
to Appear in Houston
from International Theatre New York

Robert Castle is bringing his revolutionary approach to the craft of film and stage acting to Houston .

Mr. Castle is bringing an end to the 2005 summer season of his landmark Method Acting Workshop tour in Europe . Due to the outstanding success, the workshops have become the talk of the acting community in Paris, Berlin and Copenhagen . Participants in the Danish workshops included Stage and film stars Peter Gantzler, Tommy Kenter, Ida Dwinger, Vibeke Hastrup, singers Kaya Bruel and LotteArnsbjerg and Royal Ballet dancer Karina Elver.

Mr. Castle will conduct the Method Acting Workshop in Houston , November 2 – 6, 2005.

Throughout the five-day training, Mr. Castle will address the various myths about the Method. He will also use his meticulous training style in layering each actor’s prior training (no matter what style) onto the Method technique, engaging the actor in a process leading to a total connection to the character, the circumstances and the dilemma. Thus arriving at the point where the ego and self-consciousness evaporate, and the character is fully embodied.

“When we have trained to the point where the character’s behavior becomes spontaneous and unconscious, we can become more creative than we ever thought possible, because the imaginative impulse will be unconscious and experiential rather than merely mental. At this point the actor’s performance can take flight.” Robert Castle

It is tapping into the actor’s hidden world of creativity and imaginative impulse that leads the actor to the pinnacle of the Method technique: to be highly inspired in every performance.

During the workshop, the actor will be engrossed in an intense training environment over the course of five consecutive days. Mr. Castle will engage the actor in a very detailed relaxation technique, which he developed, to strengthen the actor’s ability to achieve creative states of being: mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually, that can be applied in different ways to both film and stage acting.

After studying under the tutelage of historical luminaries, Lee Strasberg and Peggy Feury, Mr. Castle successfully acted in many major roles on stage, and in film and television. He has performed alongside numerous famous actors, including, Jane Fonda, George Segal, Angie Dickenson, Brooke Shields, Charles Durning, Jeannie Berlin, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sean Penn, and Jeff Goldblum.

Mr. Castle’s has enjoyed an extraordinary career as an award-winning writer and director, whose films have received awards throughout the United States and Canada; and whose stage productions, in Los Angeles and New York , have become local legends.

For the past ten years, Mr. Castle has been the most sought after instructor at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City . He has taught acting, screen-writing and video production at the State University of New York (SUNY), the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and Oberlin College . Mr. Castle’s instruction has nurtured some of the world’s most noted actors, including Julia Gam of Brazil, Luciano Cruz-Coke of Chile, Phillipe Breninkmayer of Germany and many others.

Mr. Castle’s love for the art form led to his founding of the International Theatre New York (IT New York ),with his wife, award-winning actress Alejandra Orozco, in 1995. IT New York is an experimental, innovative, evolutionary acting studio that comprises a performance group and training school for actors, directors and writers. IT New York provides a laboratory in which artists from around the world can create a vibrant and dynamic theatrical art for the new century, and is committed to the development and performance of works from outside the United States that otherwise might never be seen by American audiences.

The location of Mr. Castle’s Boston Method Acting Workshop will be announced.

In January 2006, Mr. Castle will further develop his international portfolio by directing “Three Days of Rain” in Copenhagen , starring Peter Gantzler, MajBritt Mathiesen, and Morten Kirkskov.

Mr. Castle will be available for personal and/or phone interviews. Please contact Jordyn Lorenz to schedule an appointment.
