American Artifact chronicles the rise of American rock poster art since its birth in the '60s.

Director Merle Becker crosses the country interviewing rock poster artists from the different eras to discover that America is currently in the midst of a 21st century "rock poster art movement", where thousands of artists around the country are doing silk screened rock poster art inspired by their local scene, the music of our time, and the spirit of our era.

The film explores the history / rise of the current rock poster movement in America, and features a cast of quirky / interesting, and extremely talented rock poster artists, talking about their work, and telling the story of their underground art movement.

This extraordinary film, which includes interviews with over 30 artists, takes the viewer on a journey through the different decades and incarnations of this rebellious art form, and spends time with, arguably, some of the finest artists of this era talking about what inspired their truly American works of art.

Wade Wilson Art is pleased to announce a special exhibit of new works by Houston-based photographer Libbie Masterson. The exhibit, titled Sky and in conjunction with the 2010 FotoFest exhibitions, will feature a collection of images of the sky, shot throughout America in both the daytime and evening. The exhibit opens with a reception for the artist from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 1 and will remain on view through April 27, 2010.

Previously, Masterson has based her massive photographic exhibits on luminescent, icy scenes. In her recent exhibit at the Houston Art Alliance, she strays from this realm to explore what could be considered the most extreme opposite - yet possesses beauty equally as majestic – the rugged landscapes of the state’s western regions. In Sky, Masterson brings together images she has collected over the past 5 years, all having to do with images of the sky. She has collected images from Alaska, California, Texas, in clear and stormy weather, exploring the dramatic variety of America’s horizons.

After careful and considered review of more than 900 entries, the 2008 jury of the “AIGA 50 books/50 Covers” competition selected a group of 91 examples of outstanding book and book cover design produced in 2008.

The jury’s selections will be mounted as a public exhibition during the “Make/Think: AIGA Design Conference” in October 2009 and at the AIGA National Design Center in New York in December 2009, and will travel across the country to AIGA chapters and student groups during 2010. In addition, selections become part of the AIGA Design Archives, are documented in 365: AIGA Year In Design, and the physical artifacts join the AIGA Design Archives at the Denver Art Museum and the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia University.

The 26^th Annual BP MS 150 Bike Ride, Texas’ largest non-profit sporting event and the largest MS 150 in the nation, will take place April 17 – 18, 2010. An estimated 13,000 cyclists are expected to take part in the two-day, 180-mile trek from Houston to Austin. This year, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society: Lone Star aims to raise a record $18 million to support multiple sclerosis (MS) research and fund programs and services benefiting an estimated 20,000 people affected by MS in 174 Texas counties.
